Remixing on Whip means taking any public app and instantly making it your own. Tap the shuffle icon on an app and you get a fresh copy in a new builder chat, pre-loaded with everything — its design, features, icon, and description — as your starting point. From there you chat to make it yours. The original creator gets credit automatically. Remix is one of Whip’s signature moves. It’s how the whole community riffs on each other’s ideas, and how a small spark turns into a hundred versions.

How a remix works

On any public app — in the feed, search, or an app’s detail sheet — tap the shuffle icon to remix it.

Get your own copy, ready to build

You land in a fresh builder chat with your own copy of the app, pre-loaded with its design, features, icon, and description. Nothing to set up — it’s a running start, not a blank page.

Chat to make it yours

Now build on it the usual way: “make it a dark theme”, “add a timer”, “change this to be about my city.” Each change is yours, on your copy.

Publish when you're ready

Remixes always start private. Keep it just for you, or publish it to the feed whenever it’s ready.
A remix starts its own conversation with the AI — you’re building on the app’s design, not inheriting the original creator’s chat history.

Credit is automatic

You never have to credit anyone by hand — Whip does it for you. Your remix carries a “Remix of…” label naming the original app, linking straight back to it, so the source creator always gets recognition. And they’ll know: the original creator gets a notification when you remix their app, and another when your remix goes public.

A little remix etiquette

Remix culture runs on generosity, and it’s simple to be a good citizen:
  • Make it yours. The best remixes add a real twist — a new theme, a new audience, a new feature — rather than republishing a near-identical copy.
  • Credit takes care of itself. You don’t need to add a shout-out; the “Remix of…” label already links back to the original.
