To block someone on Whip, open their profile and tap the ⋯ menu, or long-press one of their comments and choose Block. Blocking makes you and that person completely invisible to each other, in both directions, across the whole app. The other person is never notified. You can see and undo your blocks anytime in Settings → Blocked Users.

How to block someone

You can block from two places, whichever is in front of you:

From their profile

Open the person’s profile, tap the ⋯ menu in the corner, and choose Block @handle. Confirm, and they’re blocked.

From a comment

Long-press any comment they left, then tap Block User. Same result — handy when someone turns up in the comments rather than on a profile you’re already viewing.

What blocking does

Blocking on Whip is complete, mutual invisibility. The moment you block someone, you both disappear from each other’s view — this isn’t one-directional. Across the entire app, in both directions, you and the blocked person vanish from each other’s:
  • Feed and search — neither of you surfaces for the other
  • Profiles — visiting the other’s profile shows “not found,” as if it isn’t there
  • Followers and following lists
  • Comments, likes, and mentions — hidden both ways
  • Notifications — nothing from either of you reaches the other
Blocking also removes any follows between you. If you were following each other, those follows are undone automatically.

The other person is never told

Whip does not notify anyone that they’ve been blocked. Their view quietly loses you — your profile reads as not found, your apps and comments disappear from their world, and there’s no alert explaining why.
The same quiet applies when you unblock. If you unblock someone later, Whip won’t notify them about that either.

See and unblock people

Everyone you’ve blocked lives in one place.

Open Settings

Go to your Profile tab, tap Settings, then find Blocked Users under Resources.

Unblock anyone

Each person has an Unblock button. Tap it and confirm. Once unblocked, they can see your profile and content again — and you can always block them again later.

Blocking vs. reporting

Blocking and reporting are two separate acts, and you can do either or both. Blocking is about your experience — it makes one person invisible to you, quietly and immediately. Reporting flags content or behavior to Whip’s team for review. Blocking someone does not file a report, and reporting someone does not block them.
If someone is breaking the rules or you believe anyone is in immediate danger, report them too — and contact local emergency services for real emergencies. Here’s how reporting works.
