What Whip stores
To make your account work, Whip keeps a short list of details:Your account basics
Email, name, handle (@username), and bio. Plus your profile photo, pulled
from your Apple or Google sign-in account.
Your preferences
Your date of birth, timezone, which sign-in provider you use, the 3
interests you picked, and your notification settings.
What Whip does not store
Just as important is what Whip leaves alone:- No phone number. Whip never asks for one.
- No home or mailing address.
- No payment or billing details — there’s nothing to pay for. Whip is free, with no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Your prompts and chats stay private
The conversations where you build your apps are yours. Your chat history belongs to you, and only you can download the attachments you added to your builds. When Whip measures how the app is doing, your prompts and comments are never sent to analytics — only their lengths (how many characters), never the words themselves.Your personal information (like your email) is scrambled before it’s ever
used in analytics — it’s never included in plain text.
Your app data is yours alone
Every app you play gets its own private copy just for you. The data inside an app you use — your habit streaks, your saved notes, your high scores — is never visible to the app’s creator or to other players. The only thing an app can share is a game’s
leaderboard score, if it has one — and that’s just
your score, nothing else. Outside of that, your data is never shared.
Where AI fits in
Whip uses trusted AI providers to build your apps and to help keep the community safe. The AI that builds apps runs on providers including Google Gemini and OpenAI.- Building apps. When you describe an app, your prompt and any attachments go to the AI so it can create your app. You consent to this at onboarding, and you can manage it later in Settings → Permissions.
- Keeping content safe. Public content — like handles, bios, and comments — is screened by AI before it appears, to keep the community welcoming. More in report content.
