Whip is for adults only — you must be 18 or older to create an account. Whip asks for your date of birth during onboarding, before you can start building. If your birthday shows you’re under 18, sign-up stops there. This keeps the community aligned with a platform where AI generates content.

How the age check works

When you first sign up, one of the early onboarding steps asks “When is your birthday?” You enter your date of birth and confirm you’re 18 or older. That’s it — no ID upload, no photo, no extra hoops.
Your date of birth is used to confirm you’re old enough and to keep the community 18+. It’s private account information — see privacy and your data for the full list of what Whip stores.

If you’re under 18

If the birthday you enter makes you younger than 18, Whip shows a screen letting you know it’s for builders aged 18 and up, and there’s no way to continue past it. There’s no appeal path inside the app. It’s a hard stop, not a maybe.

Your date of birth can’t be changed later

Once you set your date of birth during onboarding, it’s locked in — you can’t edit it afterward. This matters if you fat-finger the year.
Mistyped your birthday and got locked out even though you’re 18 or older? Don’t make a second account — email support@whip.run with your handle and what happened, and we’ll sort it out.

Why Whip is 18+

We’ll be straight with you: Whip is built around AI that generates apps and content from open-ended prompts, and a shared feed where anyone can publish. That’s a genuinely adult creative space. Rather than build a watered-down version for younger users, Whip keeps a clean 18+ line. It’s the honest call, and it lets the app be what it is. To keep the community healthy at that line, public content is screened and members can report anything off.
Whip isn’t for kids. It’s an open, AI-powered creation and sharing app made for adults, with an 18+ requirement at sign-up. If a young person in your life is curious about building things, this isn’t the place for them yet.
No. Whip asks for your date of birth during onboarding and takes it from there — there’s no document upload or identity check involved.
