# Whip privacy & safety FAQ: your data, answered

> Straight answers about privacy and safety on Whip: what data is stored, who sees your app data, AI providers, moderation, blocking, and deleting your account.

Whip is built on a simple privacy idea: **what you build and do in apps is yours**. Every player gets their own private copy of every app, creators never see your data, and public content is screened before it appears. Here are the questions people actually ask, answered plainly.

## Your data

  <Accordion title="What information does Whip store about me?" icon="database">
    Your email, name, handle, bio, date of birth, timezone, sign-in provider,
    the interests you picked, and your notification preferences — plus the
    apps and chats you create. Whip does **not** store your phone number,
    address, or payment details (there's nothing to pay for). The

  <Accordion title="Can an app's creator see what I do inside their app?" icon="eye-off">
    No. When you open any app you get [your own private
    copy](/using/open-and-use-apps) — your entries and saved data are
    invisible to the creator and to every other player. The only thing an app
    can share is a [leaderboard](/using/leaderboards) score, if it has one,
    and even that shows just your score, nothing else.

    Yes. Your builder conversations are yours — they're not public even when
    the app is, only you can download your chat attachments, and your prompt
    text is never sent to analytics (only its length is).

  <Accordion title="Which AI companies power Whip?" icon="bot">
    Whip's building and in-app AI runs on third-party providers — Google
    Gemini does the heavy lifting for app generation and in-app chat, and
    OpenAI helps screen public content, with Gemini double-checking. You
    consent to AI features once during onboarding and can review this in

    Apps can only reach a curated list of about 40 safe, keyless public data
    sources (weather, currency, trivia, Wikipedia…) through Whip's own
    servers. They can never browse freely, phone home, or read your

## Permissions and consent

  <Accordion title="Why did an app ask for my camera or location?" icon="map-pin">
    Because it wants to use them — and on Whip, every app must ask you
    directly with a real Allow/Deny prompt before its first use, per app.
    Granting your camera to one app grants nothing to any other. Review or
    revoke everything in **Settings → Permissions**. [How permissions

    Apps that use AI chat, save data to your account, or fetch internet data
    show a one-time sheet explaining exactly that before they first open.
    **I agree** proceeds; **Maybe later** closes the sheet without opening the app.

## Safety and community

  <Accordion title="Is the content on Whip moderated?" icon="shield">
    Yes, twice over. Everything public — app titles, descriptions, tags,
    images, comments, bios, handles — passes automated screening (two
    independent AI checks) before appearing, and the community can
    [report](/account/report-content) anything to human reviewers. If the
    screening service ever goes down, content waits instead of slipping
    through.

    Tap the ⋯ menu on any app, comment, or profile → **Report**, pick a
    reason, done. Reports go to human review. [Reporting,

  <Accordion title="What does blocking someone actually do?" icon="user-x">
    Complete mutual invisibility: you vanish from each other's feeds, search
    results, profiles, comments, and notifications — in both directions.
    They're never told. Manage it all in **Settings → Blocked Users**.

    Whip is a platform of AI-generated, user-created content — the honest
    answer is that it isn't built for kids, so Whip checks age at sign-up

## Leaving

  <Accordion title="How do I delete my account, and what happens?" icon="trash-2">
    Settings → Delete Account. Whip shows you exactly what will go, then
    starts a 28-day grace period during which you can cancel with one tap.
    After that, everything private is permanently erased — private apps,
    chats, likes, follows, personal info. Apps you published stay playable,
    credited to "\[deleted]". Want those gone too?

  <Accordion title="Does uninstalling the app delete my account?" icon="smartphone">
    No — uninstalling just removes the app from your phone. Your account,
    apps, and data wait for you. To actually delete, use [the deletion
    flow](/account/delete-your-account) inside Whip.
