# Creating apps on Whip: FAQ for builders

> Answers for Whip builders: daily build limits, failed builds, editing published apps, versions, attachments, remix rules, and getting discovered.

Everything builders ask about creating, editing, publishing, and growing apps on Whip — in one place. If you haven't built anything yet, start with [create your first app](/getting-started/create-your-first-app) instead; this page assumes you've felt the magic once.

## Building and editing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How many apps can I build per day?" icon="gauge">
    Creating, editing, and remixing share one daily pool — up to about 50
    generations a day (with shorter per-hour pacing), resetting
    automatically. Whip tells you with a friendly dialog if you get there.
    Details in [build limits](/building/build-limits-and-failed-builds).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My build failed. Did I lose everything?" icon="life-buoy">
    No. Whip auto-retries failed builds up to three times before you even see
    an error, and a failure never erases the conversation or earlier
    versions. Send another message in the same chat to continue — the
    [rescue guide](/building/build-limits-and-failed-builds) walks through it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The build stopped and asked me to continue. What happened?" icon="octagon-pause">
    Your idea was ambitious enough to hit the per-build ceiling. Nothing is
    lost — Whip keeps the progress and says so: send a message like "keep
    going" and it resumes from where it left off. Splitting big ideas into a
    few messages works even better.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I stop a build in progress?" icon="hand">
    Yes — stop it anytime, and the partial work is saved so you can pick it
    back up with your next message.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I edit an app after publishing it?" icon="pencil">
    Yes. Keep [chatting to edit](/building/edit-your-app) — each edit creates
    a new version, and your published app updates when the new version goes
    live. Every earlier version stays in your
    [history](/building/versions-and-history), restorable anytime.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I undo a change I hate?" icon="undo">
    Yes. Every version stays on your chat timeline, so just ask the AI to go
    back to the previous one and it rebuilds from there. See [versions &
    history](/building/versions-and-history) — nothing on Whip is ever ruined
    permanently.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What files can I attach in the builder?" icon="paperclip">
    Photos (JPEG/PNG) and PDFs, up to 5 MB each and 5 per message — a menu
    photo to turn into an ordering app, a color palette to copy, a PDF of
    trivia questions. [How attachments work](/building/attachments).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why does my app have a name and icon I didn't pick?" icon="wand">
    Whip auto-generates the title, icon, and description from what you built
    — a custom-designed icon, refreshed for every version. You can edit the
    title, description, and tags on the [publish
    screen](/sharing/publish-your-app).
  </Accordion>

## Publishing, sharing, and growing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What exactly happens when I publish?" icon="rocket">
    Your chosen version goes public: it appears in the
    [feed](/discover/the-feed), in [search](/discover/search), and on your
    [profile](/social/profiles), and anyone can play, like, comment on, save,
    or [remix](/discover/remix-apps) it. Until that moment, everything you
    build is private. [The publish flow, step by
    step](/sharing/publish-your-app).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why was my app blocked from publishing?" icon="shield">
    Public content (titles, descriptions, tags, images) passes an automated
    safety screen before going live. If yours got flagged, edit the content
    and publish again — most blocks are quick fixes. Repeated false
    positives? Email [support@whip.run](mailto:support@whip.run). More in
    [how moderation works](/account/report-content).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I get more plays?" icon="trending-up">
    The [feed](/discover/the-feed) rewards engagement: remixes count most,
    then saves, then comments, then likes — plus recent plays. Practical
    moves: give your app a great [highlight reel](/sharing/highlight-reels),
    publish when you can share the [link](/sharing/share-links) around,
    and make things people want to remix. New apps also get a fair-shot
    boost their first day.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Someone remixed my app. Should I be mad?" icon="shuffle">
    Be flattered — remixing is Whip's biggest compliment and its strongest
    discovery signal. Your app keeps automatic credit ("Remix of…" links back
    to you), you get notified, and remixes boost your app's ranking. [Remix
    culture, explained](/discover/remix-apps).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I take my app off the feed?" icon="eye-off">
    To take it off the feed, delete the app; to just tidy your own Home,
    archive it. There's no one-tap unpublish today. [Archive or
    delete, explained](/sharing/unpublish-and-archive).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do my own plays count toward my app's stats?" icon="ban">
    No — playing your own app doesn't inflate its play count or ranking.
    Every play you see on your numbers is a real person.
  </Accordion>
