# How to manage your Whip account

> Tour your Whip account settings: edit your profile, control notifications and permissions, manage sign-in methods, sign out, and keep the app updated.

Everything about your Whip account lives in **Settings**, reached from your **Profile** tab: tap **Settings** under your bio. From there you can edit your profile, choose which notifications reach you, review app permissions, see who you've blocked, open resources like Terms and Privacy, and sign out. Your sign-in method and app updates are handled separately, as you'll see below.

## Take the Settings tour

Open the **Profile** tab, then tap **Settings**. You'll find a handful of clearly labeled rows, grouped into sections.

    Back on the Profile tab, tap **Edit Profile** to change your **handle**
    (@username) and your bio (up to 150 characters). Your display name is
    fixed for now. Full walkthrough in [set up your

    Settings → **Notifications** has a master switch plus categories for push
    (App updates, Social, Daily, Weekly recap, Re-engagement, Product updates)
    and email. Turn off any you'd rather not get. More in

    Settings → **Permissions** lists every app you've granted your camera,
    location, microphone, or motion sensors, so you can revoke any of them.

    Settings → **Blocked Users** shows everyone you've blocked, with an
    **Unblock** button beside each. Details in [block

## Sign out

To sign out, open Settings and tap **Sign Out** under **Account Actions**. Whip asks you to confirm, then signs you out on that device. Signing out never deletes anything — your apps, chats, and account are all waiting when you sign back in.

  Signing out is different from [deleting your
  account](/account/delete-your-account). Signing out is instant and
  reversible; deletion starts a 28-day countdown.

## Your sign-in methods

Whip offers three ways in: **Apple**, **Google**, or **email and password**. You can have more than one linked to the same account — sign in with Google today and Apple tomorrow, and it's still you. When a new sign-in method links to your account, Whip emails you so you always know.

  There is no self-serve password reset in the app right now. If you forget
  your email password, email
  [support@whip.run](mailto:support@whip.run) and we'll help you back in.
  Signing in with Apple or Google instead is often the quickest route.

## Staying signed in

Once you're in, you stay in — Whip keeps you signed in across app opens and refreshes your session quietly in the background. You won't be asked to sign in every time you launch the app. You'll only need to sign in again if you sign out, delete and reinstall the app, or sign in on a new device.

## Keeping Whip updated

Now and then a new version of Whip is required to keep everything working. When that happens, you'll see an **Update available** prompt that you can't dismiss until you act.

    refresh, it asks you to reload. If a new version is waiting in the App
    Store or Play Store, it asks you to update there. Tap the button to
    proceed — you'll be back in Whip in a moment.

    Required updates carry fixes and new features that the rest of Whip
    depends on. Making them mandatory keeps every player on a version that
    works together — no broken screens, no half-updated experiences.
